State Representative Joseph R. Driscoll Joe Driscoll embodies the third generation of his family to call Braintree home. Joe’s grandparents, Bill and Betty Sullivan, moved to East Braintree after Bill returned from serving as a pilot in the South Pacific in World War II. Here they found a home that would shape the values of their five children, including Representative Driscoll’s mother Maureen, through tight-knit communities, faith at St. Thomas More Parish, Braintree’s school system and their own family.
When Maureen Sullivan married Joe Driscoll III of Dorchester at St. Thomas More, they wanted the same things for their family that everyone wants – great schools, nice neighborhoods, and the sense of belonging to a community. Their children Colleen, Joe IV and Christine attended Liberty School and South Middle School. They played youth sports in Braintree and learned lessons on the ball fields and in classrooms that would guide their decisions as adults. Joe Driscoll graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in 1988. He went on to Boston College and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Upon graduating, Joe served as Chief of Staff for the Transportation Committee in the State Legislature while attending New England School of Law at night to earn his Juris Doctor. Joe is currently a member of the Boston Bar Association and the Norfolk County Bar Association, as well as a member of the Supreme Judicial Court Historical Society. Driscoll was selected to be an Assistant District Attorney for Middlesex County and later Norfolk County and was assigned to the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit. Following his time in the District Attorney’s office, Joe was appointed Assistant Attorney General and was assigned to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, a division dedicated to protecting the elderly from fraud and abuse. Having handled high profile Superior Court cases including attempted murder, armed robbery, domestic violence and child abuse cases, Joe earned a reputation in the community as a tough law enforcer who protects the most vulnerable of our fellow citizens.
Since 2003, Joe Driscoll has served the towns of Braintree, Holbrook and Randolph in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Driscoll sits on several committees, including the Joint Committee on Financial Services, where he oversees banking and insurance issues in the Commonwealth. He is also a member of the Joint Committee on Election Laws and the Joint Committee on Revenue. Joe Driscoll brings to the office of State Representative a lifetime commitment to our community. He is devoted to providing the resources and leadership needed to make the towns of Braintree, Holbrook and Randolph even better than they already are. |
